Let's Talk Now
This work is part of the artwork at YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park. It is a sliding privacy screen to separate the club area from the hallway inside the venue. A track system allows for the screen to be configured in different ways for larger or smaller entrance and exit from the space. Inspired by the concept of a carved jaali in Islamic architecture, and completed in 2022. Artist Lynn Susholtz consulted on materials.
Let’s Talk Now uses the design driver of layering for 18 identical panels that provide a decorative and functional entry to the club space. Cutout shapes in the panels tell a story of connection using organic shapes and repeating patterns. The durability and beauty of stainless steel combined with the luminosity of translucent colored acrylic creates a sturdy but incandescent look at the same time. Light reflects and diffuses through the layers providing vivid definition and elegance to the design. Each panel is made of a Stainless Steel + Acrylic + Stainless Steel sandwich. A thin line of colored acrylic shows in the cutout shapes, enhancing the design by adding color and light.
